Special Emphasis Program Manager Course
Using engaging learning activities and class discussions, this course focuses on the core knowledge and competencies necessary for participants to serve as effective collateral-duty or full-time Special Emphasis Program Managers (SEPMs). Participants will learn the foundational principles for implementing, assigning responsibility and managing results-driven special emphasis programs (SEPs). Participants will learn the skills necessary to pinpoint workplace barriers and EEO issues and work with management to develop workable solutions. Additionally, participants will learn the best practices for establishing a dynamic and functional year-round program. Participants will receive a comprehensive workbook.
Course Topics Include:
- Purpose of Special Emphasis Program (SEP)
- Roles and responsibilities of the SEPM
- Legal framework and policy that support the SEPs
- Planning a first-class annual SEP
- Model EEO Program (EEOC MD-715)
- Identifying Deficiencies, Triggers, and Barriers
- Cultural competence
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
